Prevent Lost Bags With Luggage Shipping

More travel tips on… www.petergreenberg.com With more and more airlines charging passengers to check bags, there’s never been a better time to look into services that will ship your luggage–and won’t give the airlines a chance to lose it. Shipping your bags does usually incur a higher cost than you might otherwise face, but think of all the time and headaches you’ll save bypassing the baggage carousel, not to mention the time you’ll save at check-in.

That’s not what he’s saying in the video. He’s suggesting using alternative services that will carry your luggage instead of having them on the plane. Also, airlines won’t let you bring carry on bags if they’re larger than a certain size. The compartments are designed to accommodate one bag at a certain size per rider per aisle.

Brilliant, but I would worry about my bags making it there by the time I did, I mean, how early would I have to mail my luggage?

I tried to take my mother inlaw overseas but the check in lady stated that they dont accept ‘old bags’ :D LoL

You guys must have some serious problems with lost luggage over in the US, I fly 20-30 flights a year and have never lost anything, neither have any of my friemds, colleagues or family members….also to Fed-Ex a 20kg suitcase would cost more than my airfare.

3 days in the US is the likely time for fast delivery. depends how much you want to pay. Expect to pay upwards of $100/bag for 2-3 days or less if you want it there in a week.

    same here.

i shipped a 45lb printer and it coste $80 with UPS.

  12. MockStoneLLC says:

i guess this is quite old as now it costs neerly 20$ a bag jsut to loose em.

  13. Habboplayer2 says:

I love the message in this video…

So, if its a holiday or the weekend and they don’t deliver, and you had an accident in your clothes, and no extra clothes, you’ll be running around bare naked.

I agree with him that it will sure save some time but if you want to be on the safe side, take a small carry on bag with you, supplying a few days of clothing, labtop, magazines, books, teeth accessories.

What happens if your luggage makes it to the destination, but YOUR plane goes down? Technically, is that considered “lost,” “abandoned,” or “unclaimed” luggage,” and if so, who’s authorized to file a claim?

I think there is just a lot of paranoia about it, I have met very few people whose luggage has been lost and when it was it was recovered very quickly.
There are a lot of people who won’t label their luggage and who don’t follow procedures properly either which can cause delays in getting luggage where it is supposed to go.

  16. peculiargirl says:

This is fine for domestic flights, but international shipping is almost always going to cost more. If I tried to ship my bag from the US to NZ I could replace everything in my bag for the cost of the shipping!

Ive been flying 5-10 times a year internationally over a period of 10 years. Been checking in bags all this while and no problems.

  18. electrogeek77 says:

I’m curious, how much of all baggage checked got lost in the last year?

  19. mvitt86 says:

and not only that but airline companies are now charging the cargo luggage so its tru do the math and see which one is a benefit American Airlines charges 15 dollars for each cargo bag from my last trip,

Flying in the US is a different experience. One time my flight was late and I was unable to board my connecting flight. But there was enough time to put my checked bag on board. Another time, my first flight arrived early, but my bag never came with me on my connecting flight. I understand why Americans have oversized carry-on baggage and it take 30mins to load a 737 when most other countries achieve this in 30 minutes.

  21. electrogeek77 says:

Also, not to sound snotty, but in my experience, I’ve had more issues with delivery services than I’ve had with checked baggage.
