Do Airlines In Asia Regularly Check The Weight Of Passengers Cabin Luggage?

I have found a bag that fits within the standard cabin luggage dimensions, but i know if i fill it, it will exceed the weight for economy passengers which is generally around 7kgs. I am interested to know from people who travel regularly if they have ever had an airline actually check the size or weight of the carry on cabin luggage bag.

I’ve flown in and out of Japan and the Philippines different times and never had my carry on checked for weight. Japan used to have you open the bag so they could inspect it for prohibited items, but they have slacked off on the lately.

Airlines who have low allowances, such as 7Kg, do check. These are the only airlines that I have been on that do so.
