What Are The Chances Of Your Luggage Being Lost?

i am going on my first plane ride this Friday! And i am sooo excited not scared any more not one bit! But i am concerned of the airline losing my bags and luggage! I will be gone out of the country for a week and two days what would i do with no cloths?! So i wanted to know if that is very likely or not. Maybe how often that happens, just some reinsurance about the hole thing!

When we fly, we carry our luggage on the plane with us and put it in the overhead compartment. This way you’re assured of getting to your destination with your stuff. Suitcases are lost or waylaid way too often and I don’t want to take the chance. Pack carefully and you should be able to carry on what you need.

More luggage is being lost now than ever before. You will get it but it may take a few days depending on where it is. They will deliver it to you.
I suggest that you take a few things in the carry on your carry on piece to wear if needed.

I don’t have number for how often it happens though, but, I have been flying for most of my life, and only once was my luggage lost. They found it and got it back to me within a few days. I was going home so it wasn’t as big a deal as if they’d lost it the other direction.
My best advice is to pack your bag that you are checking. Keep a day or two of clothing out and pack that in a carry-on just in case. The idea of packing everything into a carry-on is not bad, but for that you need to keep in mind all of the new restrictions about what can and can’t be carried on. This means that you will not be able to bring most toiletries and will have to buy at your destination. There are also size limits for carry-ons.
Since this is your first plane ride, don’t forget that you will have to take your shoes off at the airport so don’t wear shoes that are hard to get on and off. (this is all assuming you are in the US)
If your luggage is lost, you fill out some info with the airline so they can track it. For that you would go to customer service at the airport for the airline you flew on.
