How Much Time Before At Jfk; No Check-in Luggage And Having Already The Boarding Pass?

How much time will I need at JFK when I have only carry on luggage and I already have my boarding pass? So all I need is to clear security.
Thanks

take it from me, i live in brooklyn and use JFK constantly. JFK is a busy airport, I don’t care if you don’t have luggage and already have the boarding pass. For domestic flight arrive 2-3 hours before departure, and for international 3-4 hours before departure. I know this from personal experience, I have used JFK over a 100 times.

JFK is a notoriously busy airport. The queues at security can be over an hour at the busiest periods of the day. Add to that the need to get to your gate which can be up to fifteen minutes walk away and the need to orientate yourself and find out which gate and I think you should leave one and a half to two hours prior to your departure time.
If you get through security in ten minutes and your gate is close you can spend the time having a coffee or whatever, exploring the airport, watching the planes or shopping. Much better than spending time watching your plane take off without you and then having to renegotiate you flight and maybe pay a fee to do so because it was your own fault.
