it does, I spent 15 years at Qantas and it happens every day.
I have followed baggage trolleys that have had stuff fall off so you hit the horn as you go around and they stop and pick it up.

OK first of all they didn’t loose the bags they just fell off!!!! Notice how the truck stops, it doesn’t keep driving on!!!! I GUARENTEE you that this happens with other airlines!!!

Last 3 trips to Bahamas via Atlanta to Houston, no bags arrived in Houston. All three times over 2 hours in Atlanta

Yep. He stopped and picked it up, I bet this happens a lot, which is why they say they’re not responsible for damage caused to breakable articles in the bags, and that’s why you see your brand new suitcase all scratched up.
Once I had one of my sansonite plastic suitcases show up cracked.

Plus, if you only pack clothes in your bag,then you shouldn’t worry about anything beside lost luggage.
