Well, there are several ways you can tell.
Let’s assume you bought your bag from a reputable dealer and one where you think you got a genuine article; but you’re still not sure. After all, the majority of the Prada Handbags out there are fakes and you want the comfort of knowing you were not ripped off. When it comes to an authentic Prada handbag, the first thing to check for is the stitching. It should be firm and straight. The fakes will be done in a hurry to maximize profits and the occasional bag with poor stitching work from the genuine factory would never ever leave the factory floor lest they destroy the Prada name.
The smell of the leather should also be nice. Basically, if it smells cheap or skanky, it probably is. Believe it or not, there are different types of leather available. Another way to tell if the Prada Handbags you are being shown are fake or real is to check the label and the logo on the bags. I get you good deal.” Okay, let’s assume you’re not quite that naive. If you are, you can stop reading now. I have nothing to offer you.
But let’s say you bought on the Internet. Ahh, now we know you got the real thing, right? After-all people on the Internet don’t lie. Just ask the babe with the swimmers build and a body that won’t quit who has time to sit in front of her computer for 24 hours a day talking to lonely men. But there are places on the ‘net you could buy a genuine bag. Look for a place that has a reputation.
And I do not mean eBay or even Amazon.com. Both of these companies contract out to thousands of independent sellers for their work and it is estimated that fully 85% of all designer products sold on eBay are fake.
Even with Amazon.com, they are not really capable of policing who sells on their site effectively. They rely on you, the consumer to tell them that the Prada Handbag you bought was a big fat fake and how would you know anyway?
Well, first off, you’d know because you took the time to pay a visit to the Prada web site and find out who is actually authorized to be selling their products. If you bought it from anyone else, odds are it’s a fake. But for the average consumer, it’s not that simple. How can you tell if you’re as stylish as the devil or if you’re just the average Joan who got stuck with one of the very many Prada knockoff handbags that proliferate out there in the real world?
Well to get you started, here’s a simple check list of ideas:
1. How much did it cost? We’re not saying that it’s impossible for you to have purchased a Prada handbag at an amazing price, but let’s be realistic. 99.9% of the time, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t waste your time looking for bargains. If you want the real thing, spend the money for the real thing. If not, then you shouldn’t be reading this article anyway.
2. Look at the handbag’s stitching. The Prada folks take great pride in the job they do in stitching their wares together. They do not rush it; the stitching will not be very noticeable and what you can see will be neat and extremely elegant looking.
3. Check the inside lining of the Prada handbag. A knockoff Prada Handbag will not have the black lining with the Prada logo imprinted on it to contrast with the black color. If the color of the inside is some other color than black or is a pattern, then congratulations, you’ve been punked. It’s not all bad. It’s still a handbag and most people probably can’t tell the difference any more than you can, but be aware it ain’t the real thing.
4. Check the spelling. Remember that episode of Everybody Hates Chris when Chris buys his mom fake Peur Voodoo perfume? The bottle was a perfect knockoff, except for the spelling, which was actually too good. The fake spelled “pure” correctly.
