Wellesley resident Judy-Anne Hereu wants to do more than write a check for the smallest earthquake victims. She is trying to organize a mission, called To Have and To Hold in Haiti, that will send backpacks full of toys, non-perishable snacks and a toothbrush from Wellesley children to children in Haiti.

December 13th, 2009 Luggage Boy Clowns, magic and backpacks filled with toys made Christmas even more special for about 1,000 children Saturday at Manual High School as the Journal Star and The Salvation Army teamed for the annual Peoria County Red Stocking Party. The event allows members of the community to add some holiday joy to the lives of those less fortunate financially.

Tatum’s Bags of Fun is a nonprofit organization that distributes backpacks filled with age-appropriate games, toys and activities to newly diagnosed pediatric-cancer patients at Riley Hospital for Children and Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent.

October 5th, 2009 Luggage Boy My daughter has been diagnosed with head lice & I need to treat her backpack (I’ve already done the rest of the work to the house, toys, coats, bed, her head etc). The school nurse said to throw it in the dryer on high heat for at least 20 min. I just don’t want to ruin the backpack. Should it be okay?
